Not sure where this goes... guess I'll put it where it was used...
Anyway, TheoX (Xap), I saw your link to the Orgmaker, and it looks like something I have been searching for forever. I also downloaded all your music, and they all are just... madly good. The Spartans would be proud. However, I would like some tips, as I am interested...
1. Copying sections of your track: How is it done?
2. What are your favorite instruments? They all seem somewhat... unusable, but when you use them, they work great.
3. General hints/tips on layering your sounds... |

Glad you like my music. I'll try to answer some of your questions:
1: You have to go to "Edit" - "Copy Current Track" or "Copy Multiple Tracks" (F2 or F3). The top part "copy from" tells what part you are copying. You choose the instrument to copy (track), and from what measure and beat to what other measure and beat (the length of the segment). To copy exactly one measure, let's say for example measure 1, you'd copy from measure 1, beat 0 to measure 2, beat 0. The second part "copy to" tells the beginning spot of where you want to copy to. For "Copy Multiple Tracks" it's all the same except you check the songs you want copied.
2: My favorite instruments? They're all pretty similar. They might sound weird at first, but they sound good when they're in a song. I like #17 a lot though.
3: Tips on layering my sounds? Well, I have an ear for music and know what notes sound good together... you just kind of have to experiment. If you have an idea of something in your head beforehand, it helps a lot. |

I see, thanks for replying.
Do you work on one instrument at a time, then layer it when your done with it? Or do you work with all of them at once? |

I guess I work with them all at once - I usually go by measure or two, and lay down one thing then another over it. There's a lot of copying involved. |

Could you tell me it in a bit more... in depth format? |

Yeah, I can take screenshots and give a little "virtual walkthrough."
Right now where I live it's the morning and I have to get to school, but I can do this later in the day when I get back. |

Here's a small picture walkthrough I made for copying a single track:
The fourth screen is a bit discombobulated. Make sure you look at the "Copy Track" window first. I color coded sections and wrote what they did. Hopefully It's not too hard to understand.
For copying multiple tracks, choose "Copy Multiple Tracks" (F3), and the process is exactly the same, except you check the tracks that you want to copy (whereas the previous process only involved one track).
Let me know if anything is still unknown to you. |

| Thanks to your little pictures, I got it now. I've created a few songs, most too horrible for me to show, but I am quite surprised on one I made. Not only does it sound better then the rest, I was just drawing pictures with the different colors! |

I'm glad you're getting the hang of it! Your songs will probably get better as you mess around. The ones I've shown to people
definitely are not my first creations. They are the ones that aren't "rejects."
Side note: I'm really sorry how long it took me to respond - I've been quite tied up with schoolwork and haven't had time to
update my site or this forum. However now it's Thanksgiving vacation and I have spare leisure time!
I've been touching up my website and uploaded two new OrgMaker songs if you want to check them out.
Oh, but those even are sort of old. I've actually stopped using OrgMaker and started using FL Studio - a program that's more
complicated but has more options. Weirdly, it says it's only a demo, but there are no restrictions that I can see. A good thing I
guess. Anyway, I'm going to host those soon too! And they're definitely better than my OrgMaker songs.
Let me know when you think you've made something worth sharing! |

| Once my composing ear grows in, I will download FL. |
